Choosing the Best Media for Your Prints | |
1. How long do you need your print to last, before the first detectable fading, in typical indoor illumination?
If longer than 15 years, choose one of the archival medias (archival satin or archival canvas).
If less than 15 years, the dye papers will do quite well. 2. What kind of lighting will your print be exposed to? And, how important is it to avoid reflections from surrounding lights? If it will be difficult to adjust your viewing angle and/or the lighting, and if reflections from lights are an important issue, lean towards a matte paper. Our canvas media (it is actual canvas, not simulated canvas) has a very flat appearance while still having good blacks. 3. Are you printing black and white images? If so, the archival medias have an advantage in that they use a process which provides the best neutrality in color. 4. Do you want the texture and appearance of canvas? If so, our canvas prints are very high quality (21 mils thick, poly-cotton blend, very good surface characteristics). 5. Still undecided? Check out our our Free Sample kit.
